Honoring the Life & Legacy of Cameron Boyce : A Conversation with Victor Boyce
Some conversations stay with you long after they're over—not because of who the guest is, but because they remind you what it means to be human.
Our conversation with Victor Boyce is one of those conversations.
Long before millions of people knew Cameron Boyce as an actor, humanitarian, and one of Disney's brightest stars, one person knew him simply as his son. Victor didn't experience Cameron through premieres, television screens, or headlines. He experienced him through family dinners, laughter around the house, everyday conversations, and the countless ordinary moments that quietly become life's most meaningful memories.
This conversation isn't about revisiting tragedy. It's about understanding the life that came before it—and the legacy that continues because of it.
It's easy to believe we know someone because we've watched them on our screens. But fame only tells part of the story.
Behind every public figure is a son or daughter. Behind every accomplishment is a family. Behind every headline is someone who loved them long before the world ever did.
Throughout our conversation, Victor doesn't speak about Cameron as a celebrity. He speaks about him as a father speaks about his son. He reflects on Cameron's kindness, his generosity, his humor, and the remarkable ability he had to make every person feel seen.
One of the most powerful themes woven throughout our conversation is that people don't remember Cameron simply because he was successful—they remember him because of the way he treated them. Years after his passing, stories continue to find their way back to Victor from people whose lives Cameron impacted through simple acts of kindness.
Perhaps that's the greatest measure of a life—not what we accomplish, but how deeply we're remembered by others.
Beyond the Public Figure
One of the most moving aspects of this conversation is watching Victor speak about Cameron not through the lens of loss, but through the lens of love. There is no performance or attempt to manufacture emotion—only a father sharing memories of the son he still carries with him every day.
Throughout our conversation, Victor reflects on what it means to continue living while honoring someone who shaped your world. Fatherhood doesn't end when someone is gone; it evolves. Today, Victor honors Cameron not only through remembrance, but through action.
Every interview. Every conversation. Every family helped through The Cameron Boyce Foundation is another expression of a father's enduring love.
A Father's Love Doesn't End
Turning Grief Into Purpose
Following Cameron's passing in 2019 due to Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP), Victor and his family faced unimaginable grief.
While nothing could change what happened, they could choose what happened next.
Rather than allowing Cameron's story to end with tragedy, they transformed heartbreak into purpose by establishing The Cameron Boyce Foundation—a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness about epilepsy and SUDEP, supporting education and research, empowering young people to create positive change, and ensuring more families have access to the knowledge and support they deserve.
The Foundation stands as a testament to Cameron's belief that our lives should be measured not simply by what we achieve, but by the impact we have on others.
Why Epilepsy Awareness Matters
Epilepsy affects millions of people around the world, yet it remains one of the most misunderstood neurological disorders.
Approximately 1 in 26 people will develop epilepsy during their lifetime, and millions of Americans are currently living with the condition. For many families, conversations about epilepsy don't begin until someone they love receives a diagnosis. For others, those conversations begin after tragedy.
Victor hopes they begin much sooner.
Throughout our conversation, he speaks openly about the importance of education, awareness, and removing the stigma that still surrounds epilepsy. Greater awareness leads to earlier conversations, better support, increased research, and ultimately, lives saved.
It's one of the reasons the work of The Cameron Boyce Foundation continues to be so important.
The Cameron Boyce Foundation: Carrying a Legacy Forward
In the months following Cameron's passing, Victor and Libby Boyce were faced with a question no parent ever expects to ask:
How do you move forward after losing a child?
While nothing could undo what happened, they believed Cameron's story still had the power to change lives.
In 2019, they founded The Cameron Boyce Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to carrying forward Cameron's spirit of compassion, generosity, and service. What began as a way to honor their son has grown into a mission that reaches families, young people, and communities around the world.
The Foundation works to increase awareness of epilepsy and SUDEP, support education and research, and provide resources for individuals and families affected by epilepsy. At the same time, it continues Cameron's passion for helping others by empowering young people to create positive change within their own communities through the arts, service, and leadership.
Throughout our conversation, it became clear that the Foundation isn't simply about preserving Cameron's memory.
It's about continuing his work.
Every family that receives support, every conversation that raises awareness, every young person inspired to make a difference is another example of Cameron's legacy continuing to grow.
As Victor shared throughout our interview, one life can have an extraordinary impact on countless others. The Cameron Boyce Foundation exists to ensure that impact doesn't stop—it continues creating hope, inspiring action, and reminding people that even in the face of unimaginable loss, purpose can still emerge.

There are people whose influence fades with time.
Cameron Boyce isn't one of them.
His legacy lives on through every family that finds hope, every conversation that raises awareness, every young person inspired to serve others, and every life touched by The Cameron Boyce Foundation.
Listening to Victor speak, one thing becomes abundantly clear: Cameron's greatest legacy isn't found in the films he made or the awards he received. It's found in the people he loved, the kindness he showed, and the countless lives he continues to impact years after his passing.
Perhaps that's the greatest lesson this conversation offers all of us.
Legacy has very little to do with fame, success, or accomplishments.
It has everything to do with how we make people feel.
